Lasso the sun

Tug at it                       hold on to

the day, just a little longer

To push back the dark

For a few grains to

Eke their way through

The pinch of the hour’s glass

The night’s hungry

Looking to devour shadows

Push back this retreat of the shadows

From flowing into the dark
