The fall snow

Dry leaves aflutter on the ground

a dusting of snow over the grass

the greens sprouting icy stubbles

the shavings pile on

the tall grass buckles

at rest from a swirled exhaustion

waves in a frozen sea

sun and snow

in an uneasy embrace

slushy              where it’s a draw

slick                 at the edges of the sun’s retreat
